  • Help on helping sell a smoker

Hi all, my buddy is selling his trailer smoker. He’s in Korea on a remote for a year with a follow on assignment to Japan with the family. So the smoker must go. He built it about 9 years ago and it cost him about $2000 total. He’s hoping for $2000. It’s in really good shape, no rust except on the exterior of the bottom of the firebox from all the heat. He didn’t use it as much as he was hoping. It was made in Arizona and has been in Vegas for 4 years so it’s not been kept in a snowy wet environment. I’m hoping for your input on its features and what it can be sold for, and maybe what else to mention to get a good sale price on it.

I have included lots of pics, I'll add a few more pics in the next post, thanks for looking!

Trailer with wood storage, lights and has been licensed, so it’s road worthy.
Trailer is 12’ long, 4’3” wide. Tires are okay.
Smoker is an offset firebox for wood/charcoal
The smoking chamber is an old air tank 70” long, 24” wide
Bottom grate is removable and slides out, 55” x 23” deep
Top grate is removable and slides out, 55” x 16” deep
Fire box is 22” deep, 22”tall, 22” long, it has a bottom adjustable damper and a damper on top of the stack
Nice custom handle, with lid locks and sealant on the edges of the lid.

That's nice looking RF unit.... little long on the exhaust but that's not an issue I don't think. 2K is a "steel" IMO....

Mikey's prolly gonna kick himself in the ass over this one ;{)

Looks nice! There's a problem with trying to sell one of these. Its such a slim market to find someone who wants one. I've seen the same smoker on Craigslist for over 2 years. Its nice but wants $3500. From watching CL it looks like they're easy to move around $1000. That's in my area though. I'd start at 2k and every 2 weeks drop it by $250 but not less than $1250. Like I said these are a tough sell in my area but it just takes that one guy to see the ad that wants one.

Looks like a great smoker! Good luck. 2K is fair but it will take some time!

Dave if you or the owner of the smoker are on Facebook there are a couple of good pages that are set up just for people to sell used BBQ equipment. If interested let me know!

I would put this on craig list and stand firm. It's not gonna sell on the first day but someone who is looking to have one built will jump on this rikey tick after the first estimate from a fabricator.

No I'm not. It's a nice unit but for me it wouldn't suit my needs the way it's layed out on the trailer. Then there's the "I built it myself" factor
