  • Rudy's Rub

Anyone ever try Rudy's Rub from Rudy's Country Store & Bar-B-Q in Texas? My boss got me a sample after bringing in some brisket I had made. Being from Chicago and never having heard of Rudy's before and the resturant has some really good reviews.

Heres a link to their website.

My first impression with the sniff and finger taste is wow lots of CBP. Gonna do some ribs this weekend so I will do half with and half with a homemade rub.

Use it a bunch...I have given away more of their sauce than most people use, because it is my absolute favorite and I love to share it with my friends.

It is a fun place to eat at...order your smoked meat by the lb. and they serve it to you on butcher paper on a tray. The original Rudy's in Albuquerque has the best green chili stew on the planet. I would eat that stuff by the quart it was that good. I used to spend weeks at a time at the residence inn next door to Rudy's...there were trips that I didn't eat anywhere else.

How is it once cooked? Does the heat mellow out any? Better for beef or pork or both?

Not a wimpy rub...the heat stays, but like most rubs will mellow a bit. I prefer it on chicken and beef.

My wife brought me some back after a business trip.....that stuff is a little spicy but I would only use it on beef myself.

Well I was thinking it was probably more of a beef rub. Guess I will save it for my next brisket.
