  • Chief's cowboy beans... Via insta pot

    Hail to our Chief!
Gonna give these cowboy beans a try in the insta pot.
Tweaked it a little started with 1lb of bacon.
Sauted the bacon in the insta pot on Waite setting.
Deglazed the pot with a little beer.
Added the mystery meat.. Any guesses on what meat I used?
After the meat browned I tossed in a little more beer, then the onions cooked until translucent and fragrant.
Then added the spices, water, tomato sauce and beans.
I'll update ya'll with the final photos!
What does that mystery meat look like to you?
Thanks Ken for the recipe and this site. I've not been on much, I do miss you all!
    Happy smokes!

Wrong color for bear. Probably not poultry[emoji1785]. Given where you live I’ll say a mix of coyote and marmot. Maybe some suet you picked up in Fresno?

Kelly, I'm sure you meant to say... "Yup!!!"
Venison would be the meat of any member of the cervid, or deer, family...

Thus ends your science lesson for today...

OBTW: Elk is delicious... You'll love it... (And I'm jealous...)
