Now you'll think I've really lost it. Lol. Saw a recipe for something similar a few weeks ago and didn't give it much thought. Then dad gave me some pears. Hmm.. had to go searching. Wanted to do some on the grill, but the weather has not been cooperating.
These are locally grown pears. They're not like store bought. Much smaller and WAY more flavor. Dad helps a guy who has an orchard of these. What he gets are the blemished ones. The ones that have fallen on the ground or just aren't perfect to sell. So what. Dad was over helping the other day before we had a hard freeze. They grabbed everything they could. Came home with 2 more big boxes full. Picking some more up tomorrow. Might get to do some on the grill yet. Anyhoo.....

I rolled out about a 12 inch pizza crust. Laid down some provolone slices. Sliced 3 of the pears up and spread them out. Caramelized some vadalia onions and tossed them on. Spread some blue cheese crumbles over the top. Baked it in a 400 degree oven.

In the meantime, I boiled 1/4 cup of balsamic vinegar and 2 Tblsp of brown sugar down to a syrup. When the pizza came out, drizzled the syrup over it and tossed on some fresh chives. Unfortunately the pizza was hot and the syrup melted and pooled up in places. Oh well. It was kind of over powering and next time I will add the vinegar and BS to the caramelized onions.

How did it taste? Like nothing I've had before. The flavors worked well together. Just needs some tweaking. Give it a try. Play with it.
Thanks for checking it out.
