Anyone grow any types of mushrooms in here? . I have in the past grown Portabella, Shiitake, and some Oyster shrooms from a pre made kit that usually consists of an inoculated box or bag of sterilized substrate. It crosses my mind from time to time so I joined a couple FB groups yesterday and learned that one can take a five gallon bucket and layer either pasteurized straw or wood chips with mycelium. All you need to do is drill a bunch of 1/4 inch holes for the fruiting bodies to emerge from. Mostly oysters are grown this way. Or layer right on the ground wood chips and spawn water and wait. Mostly Wine Caps are grown this way. I had some inoculated plugs once for Shiitake which one needs to simply drill holes in oak logs and insert plugs, seal with wax, soak and wait. I must have tossed them. Kits are fine but pricey for the return. Just curious if anyone here is a hobby shroom grower.

I've only eaten morels once while camping at Loon lake in Norcal years ago. A buddy foraged some and we grilled them with olive oil and S&P. I've eaten plenty of mushrooms in my life but nothing compared to the flavor of these. They were delicious!
